The Kapiti/Horowhenua region, with its awesome combination of rivers and mountains, is the perfect location for the BIG BANG Adventure Race.
Adventure Racing, along with Multi sport, is one of the fastest growing adventure sports. Become part of it and challenge yourselves in teams of 2 or 4. With the help of your support crew you will mountain bike, hike, navigate and complete a mystery water activity together through some of the best landscape this region has to offer. Did we mention you will get a bit muddy, potentially wet and very tired as well? BUT it will be one of the best days of your life!
You need to be fit, it is hard work, you need to have a sense of humor and you need to earn that beer, so put on your outdoor gear and join the BIG BANG Adventure!!
It's time for change!
The Big Bang Adventure Charitable Trust is after some fresh blood to give the events new energy.
We are keen to hear from those interested in becoming trustees or the new event manager.
After 14 years of living and breathing everything Big Bang, the instigator of this crazy Big Bang family, Carrie Yaxley is stepping down as event manager. "It's time to take some time for myself and the family before they all up and leave home!' Two of the other founding members of the trust, Marty Yaxley and Simone Dawson, are also retiring. Pete Dawson is keen to continue the legacy but needs some help!
This is not an immediate thing, the 2024 events will continue as normal with Carrie, Marty, Si and Pete at the helm, with a view to the new trust taking over for 2025.

Hi guys. just wanted to say massive thanks for making the event happen on the weekend. Your team of people did the most amazing job and had the best day ever! What was outstanding was the way you organized it all so the event could run. 10 out of 10. So many events have been canceled lately and you guys nutted it out so it didn't and know this would have taken a lot of effort. I know myself and lots of other people need theses event to give us something to focus and something to train towards, also make us feel normal when everything else feels a bit crazy at the moment. So thanks again, love u guys and your work!
